Need to convert UNICODE to LATIN - response (4) by virenag

CAST(COALESCE(col1,'') AS VARCHAR(10)) produces UNICODE While  COALESCE(CAST(col1 AS VARCHAR(10)),'')    produces LATIN.   Any explaination for this?   Thanks.
